Dr. Erik Shimane is a Certified FMT RockTape Medical Professional & Retailer.
Functional Movement Technique presents a revolutionary way of thinking about how we move and how we injure. They integrate innovative mobility and stability strategies, along with a movement-based; practical kinesiology taping framework – to deliver RESULTS.
The FMT Series are based on the following concepts:
Movement Pyramid: Movement screening and re-screening as the basis for evaluating the quality of human movement before and after the techniques administered
Evidence Informed: Courses are built around the available scientific literature and clinical expertise of our instructors and certified healthcare and fitness professionals.
Focus on Fascia: FMT has a longitudinal muscle chain approach to understanding movement dysfunction and correction
FMT Blades introduces the concept of movement therapy and performance enhancement via Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM). The tools may be hard-edged, but the techniques don’t need to be aggressive to deliver superior patient outcomes.
The FMT Blades certification will review screening dysfunctional movement patterns and utilizing soft tissue tools to improve patient treatment. The anatomy, physiology and MOST IMPORTANTLY the neurology of myofascial soft tissue work is covered, along with supporting research. IASTM intervention strategies will also be combined with kinesiology taping and corrective exercise techniques to deliver a comprehensive approach to patient care.
FMT RockPods & RockFloss
RockFloss uses the science of compression band flossing and fascial shearing to help improve joint mobility, reduce pain*, and enhance movement.
RockPods uses the science of tissue gliding, traction and decompression with easy to use myofascial cups. Myofascial Cupping has been around since the early 19th century – only recently has the image of purple circles on professional athlete’s backs created attention to an ancient myofascial therapy. The cups and techniques have changed over time, but the basic premise of the cups providing suction to decompress the underlying tissue remains the same.
RockFloss & RockPods are one of the latest additions to the RockTape tool arsenal to better equip each clinician, therapist or trainer to deliver superior patient and client outcomes. Our staff are trained in all of the techniques.
